Fall Classic Final Game Captures 51M Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japan Markets.

The thrilling extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total over 50 million viewers in the US, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB announced this marks the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday epic contest averaged over 27 million viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase over the last finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game came in 8th, and the third game finished in 13th place.

International Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game began at 9 p.m. local time, it averaged 12M. This followed the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The full seven-game series recorded 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the total US average was 16.1M. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M watchers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and the network’s strongest playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen various tongues.
