Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first title for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since March of that year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and recurring reactions on the playing surface had led some to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.

However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.

The opponent defended four early-game chances in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
